Safina hopes to play ahead in Australian Open

After being tearfully pulling out of the WTA Championships with a serious back injury, Dinara Safina has entered the Brisbane International . Safina said Wednesday in Doha that she faced six weeks of rest before stepping back on the court, and a potentially long rehabilitation process that could see her miss the Australian Open, which begins Jan. 18. The Brisbane International runs from Jan. 3-10. She said, " I am looking forward to the challenge and I cannot wait to get there.” After stopping play in the third game, Safina, in tears, walked over to her chair and covered her face with a towel before retiring. She said one of the discs in her lower back was “starting to fracture,” and that she has been dealing with the pain for three months. Safina is a fighter and I know she is really looking forward to returning to Queensland. I have no doubt she will be here in January.

Federer, Safina seeded No. 1 for US Open

The U.S. Tennis Association announced the tournament seedings here on Tuesday with Roger Federer and Dinara Safina as seeded No. 1 for the U.S. Open.

Both ATA and WTA rankings followed USTA to annouce these two names. Safina heads the women's field ahead of second-ranked Serena Williams. Safina is 0-3 in Grand Slam tournament finals, while Williams is the defending champion at Flushing Meadows and has won 11 major championships.

Two-time U.S. Open winner Venus Williams is seeded No. 3, followed by Elena Dementieva (deh-ment-YAY-vah) and Jelena Jankovic (YEH-leh-nah JANK-oh-vich).

Five-time defending champion Federer is followed by Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic (JOKE-oh-vich) and 2003 champion Andy Roddick.

The draw is on Thursday and the play will begin from Monday.

Banned Martina Hingis to Join Strictly Come Dancing

Former Wimbledon champion Martina Hingis who has been banned from tennis playing during 2007 Wimbledon tournament for testing positive for the drug test. She has been banned for two years but the lady moved on to become one of the contestant in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Federer shares his excitement for his baby twin girls

The 27-year-old Swiss world tennis number one player 'Federer' named his newly born twin girls as Myla Rose and Charlene Riva who came into this World just before his U.S open. The baby gave him time to settle down with his new family members and support his wife Mirka who delivered them on Thursday.

Federer shared his happiness online on Facebook.

In a statement released on his Facebook page, Federer said: "I have some exciting news to share with you. Late last night, in Switzerland, Mirka and I became proud parents of twin girls. This is the best day of our lives."

Russian Tursunov reaches quarters of Indianapolis Tennis

Top eight seed Russian Dmitry Tursunov made his quarter final entry into Indianapolis Tennis by beating Brazilian Marcos Daniel 6-3, 6-3. In his quarter-final match, Russian player Tursunov is going to meet his year old Canadian rival - Frank Dancevic, whom he defeated at the Indy title two years back and also during the grass-court Eastbourne final.

"In our last few matches I've tried to prevent him going for his shots. You have to try to rush him, keep him on the back foot," said the California-based Russian. "He's a shotmaker that you cannot take for granted.

"I'll have to serve well and cut out more of my unforced errors. But I've been hitting some good shots even if I felt so lethargic during warm-up (after a rain-off on Wednesday) that I actually had to warm up twice."

Wimbledon may hit by Swine Flu

Wimbledon 2009 fear off being hit by Swine Flu. The news announced by the Club Sources, " Handful of ball boys and ball girls were affected, but nobody had been confirmed as having contracted the A(H1N1) virus. " The suspected youngsters have been sent home to protect others from being affected by the Flu.

The situation is in control. Precautionary measures have been taken to keep the players well with their health. They are advised to take lots of vitamin C to improve their immune system. Ball boys and girls work to keep players easy at the ground by providing balls, towels and other necessary items to them.

Nadal made record 30th win at French Open

Rafael Nadal managed to earn 30-0, beating Teimuraz Gabashvili of Russia 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 in the second round of French Open.

The top seeded Spaniard player never miss at Roland Garros and this 30th straight win on the red clay Wednesday made him earn the record for most consecutive wins. Earlier Nadal has wone 4 French titles. Lets see, Will Rafael Nadal win fifth straight French Open title?

Top Seeded Safina reached 3rd round of French Open

Dinara Safina made her entry into third round of French Open by deafeating Russian, Vitalia Diatchenko with 6-1, 6-1 in the second round on Wednesday. Diatchenko just 18-year old could not make it and in reply to this she said, " Safina's in good form. Every ball she put close to the line. I felt so bad because I didn't play my best game today," Diatchenko.

Safina will face either Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova or Julie Coin of France for a place in the last 16.

Andy Roddick Gets Married to Model Brooklyn Decker

April 17, 2009 was the day for the two lovers who gave name to their longtime relationship. We are talking about the tennis athlete Andy Roddick who exchanged tiffany rings of their wedding deal with girlfriend model Brooklyn Decker in an intimate ceremony Friday evening. Clijsters Will Be Back

Former world No. 1 Kim Clijsters who took retirement of two years for giving birth to a baby will soon going to announce her come back to the women's tennis circuit. The 25-year-old, Belgian player, Kim Clijsters gave birth to a baby girl last February is nowadays busy with her training to join World Team Tennis in the United States in July.

Clijsters tennis history counts 34 singles titles and a record of 427 wins against 104 defeats along with number one position in both singles and doubles in 2003. She was married to American basketball player Brian Lynch in 2007 and today they are blessed with a sweet little girl as a god's gift making their relationship more strong. Everyone look forward to watch her again in the field with that old passion.

Williams became No. 5 in world ranking

Venus Williams achieves No. 5 ranking in World women's tennis rankings after victory over Virginie Razzano in high-profile Dubai Tennis Championships. Serena Williams still maintains her No. 1 position followed by second-rated Dinara Safina, No. 3 Jelena Jankovic and fourth-ranked Elena Dementieva.

Earlier V. Williams was at number 6 but after defeating Virginie Razzano with a straight-set victory on Saturday in Dubai Tennis Championship, made her to be counted in top 5 Women's tennis players of the World.

Fans Ejected From Australian Open Tournament

MELBOURNE, 23 Jan 2009, Friday - The clash between Serbian and Bosnian fans lead to ejection of 30 people from the Melbourne Park grounds of the tournament. Even two were arrested for ethnic violation, throwing chairs, trading punches and kicks on each other. The whole issue started when two groups of fans were streaming out of the Serbia’s Novak Djokovic and Bosnia's American Amer Delic. The verbal abuse later took the shape of full-fledged fighting among the groups. But within few minutes police controlled the matter very quickly and effectively. Few arrests and fines were imposed to violeters to control the situation.
