United States came to be the number one country to win 110 medals (36 gold, 38 silver, 36 bronze) and China stood second after winning 100 medals (51 gold, 21 silver, 28 bronze) and Russia stood third in the row.

BEIJING, Aug 16 - American Sisters, Serena Williams and Venus Williams won the battle by defeating another sibling pair of Ukraine - Alena and Kateryna Bondarenko in the doubles semifinals, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.

The sisters said, "There's no temptation to celebrate yet, We always want to go for the highest peak". They plan to play at the London Olympics in 2012. The Williams will compete on Sunday for finals with the winner of the semifinal between Yan Zi and Zheng Jie of China and Anabel Medina Garrigues and Virginia Ruano Pascual of Spain.

Serena Williams out from Golden SinglesOn Thursday at the Olympic Tennis Centre, Serena lost 3-6 6-4 6-3 to Russia's Elena Dementieva. Her dreams for a first Olympic singles gold went up in smoke after Russian number five seed Elena Dementieva enters into the quarter-finals.

As told to reporters, Dementieva said "This is the biggest tournament for me this year." Dementieva, who won the Olympic singles silver medal in 2000, will play Vera Zvonareva for a place in the final after her No.9 seeded fellow citizen beat unseeded Austria's Sybille Bammer 3-6 6-3 6-3.

Blake advances to the semi finals slumping at 6-4, 7-6(2) in just one hour and 30 minutes

Both players are also competing in doubles. This win is a major victory for the Swiss who has not won a major title in a year. Federer, who loses his world number one ranking to his great Spanish rival Rafael Nadal on Monday, has failed to win any major championships this year. Blake's record against the Federer now stands at 1-8.

In the quarterfinals, they will take on the winners of the second round match that pits fourth seeded Swiss pair of Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka against the mercurial Russian duo of Dmitry Tursunov and Mikhail Youzhny.

Serbian Ana Ivanovic - Out of the Beijing Olympics

Serbian Ana IvanovicFrench Open Champion Serbian Ana Ivanovic is out of the Beijing Olympics 2008 as she could not recover from her injured thumb. Ivanovic's pull-out came on a rain-hit day at the Women tennis tournament where only nine of a scheduled 45 matches were completed.

The Serbian player was due to face Mariya Koryttseva of Lithuania in her first round match. She was carrying the right thumb injury since the Rogers Cup in Montreal and since she arrived at Beijing Olympics she didnt hit a single ball.

On Sunday, she said, she hope to play at the U.S. Open in New York to be held on 25th August.
